Oscar Lao is the Population Genomics team leader at the CNAG.
He holds a degree in Biology from the University of Barcelona and a PhD in Health Sciences from the Universitat Pompeu Fabra. Between 2005 and 2014 he worked as a postdoctoral fellow at the Forensic Molecular Biology Department at Erasmus Medical Centre University in Rotterdam, The Netherlands. He focused on the analysis and interpretation of the genetic variation present in human populations, and the development of new statistical and bioinformatic tools for the detection of hidden population substructure. As result of this work, Oscar Lao has co-authored over 50 articles published in prestigious scientific journals and encyclopedias.
