Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) technologies are producing data at an unprecedented scale, putting the focus on the processing, analysis and visualization of data and not in their generation.

Therefore new more advanced computational solutions are needed to carry out NGS data analysis efficiently. Currently there are many computing technologies available that can help us to develop better tools and solve many of the current problems. These technologies include High-Performance Computing (HPC), NoSQL databases, big data distributed processing (Apache Hadoop), HTML5 or cloud-based solutions.

In this talk I will introduce these technologies and how we have been using them to solve some of the problems of NGS data analysis during the last 2 years.
