The Centro Nacional de Análisis Genómico (CNAG-CRG) is one of the largest Genome Sequencing Centers in Europe. CNAG-CRG researchers participate in major International Genomic Initiatives such as the International Cancer Genome Consortium (ICGC), the International Human Epigenome Consortium (IHEC), the International Rare Diseases Research Consortium (IRDiRC) and the European Infrastructure for life-science information (ELIXIR), as well as in several EU-funded projects.

It is integrated with the Centre for Genomic Regulation (CRG), an international biomedical research institute of excellence, based in Barcelona, Spain, with more than 400 scientists from 44 countries. The CRG is composed by an interdisciplinary, motivated and creative scientific team which is supported both by a flexible and efficient administration and by high-end and innovative technologies.

In April 2021, the Centre for Genomic Regulation (CRG) received the renewal of the 'HR Excellence in Research' logo from the European Commission. This is a recognition of the Institute's commitment to developing an HR Strategy for Researchers, designed to bring the practices and procedures in line with the principles of the European Charter for Researchers and the Code of Conduct for the Recruitment of Researchers (Charter and Code).

The role 

Reporting to the CNAG Administrative Director, the Corporate Communication and Institutional Relationships Officer will:

  • - Define and execute the policy and strategic lines of communication, ensuring the maximum impact of the organization's activities in the different target audiences and the use of the most effective channels, increasing awareness and brand positioning.
  • - Lead the daily operations of the communication area.
  • - Lead the dialogue with the off / online media to guarantee the generation of notoriety of the different activities of the centre. 
  • - Design, plan and implement the internal communication plan to guarantee that both the research and the admin staff (main ambassadors of the organization) are aligned with the objectives and committed, and to generate community and publicize the activity of each area internally and the most emblematic projects in each case.
  • - Coordinate the work of the communication area with other departments, promoting teamwork and establishing synergies.
  • - Coordinate the Area Departments to keep the databases of target audiences updated.
  • - Detect the newsworthy activity of the Organization that enhances positioning and notoriety.
  • - Supervise the generation of the organization's content, ensuring the corporate identity, the correct transmission of the message according to the channel and the public to which it is directed.
  • - Supervision of the events of the Organization to guarantee the corporate identity and its contribution to the notoriety.
  • - Make periodic reports to assess the achievement of the objectives of the communication area.
  • - Creation of the content and content strategy (blogs, white papers, reports, surveys) to increase visits and capture leads.
  • - Plan and execute the social media strategy.
  • - Follow-up and contact with the press and media and preparation of communications.
  • - Guidance and dynamization of the key people of the organization for the use of social media.
  • - Prepare a contingency plan in the event of a reputational crisis.

 

Whom would we like to hire? 

Professional experience 

  • - Proven experience (+ 3 years) in positions in a similar role related to the communication area
  • - Identification and commitment to the values and mission of the organization

 

Desirable but not required

  • - Having experience and/or knowledge of the scientific and research, educational sector, or institutional spheres will be highly valued

 

Education and training

  • - University degree (Information CC, Journalism, Corporate Communication, Marketing or similar)
  • - Higher education and/or specialized training in corporate or institutional communication will be highly valued

 

 Languages

  • - Professional level of English, Spanish and Catalan (spoken and written)

 

Technical skills

  • - Excellent oral and written communication skills

The Offer – Working Conditions

Selection Process 

  • - Pre-selection: The pre-selection process will be based on qualifications and expertise reflected on the candidates CVS. It will be merit-based.
  • - Interview: Preselected candidates will be interviewed by the Hiring Manager of the position and a selection panel if required.
  • - Offer Letter: Once the successful candidate is identified the People department will send a Job Offer, specifying the start day, salary, working conditions, among other important details.
