Deadline:
Oct 15, 2022
Description:

The Centro Nacional de Análisis Genómico (CNAG-CRG) is one of the largest Genome Sequencing Centers in Europe. CNAG-CRG researchers participate in major International Genomic Initiatives such as the International Cancer Genome Consortium (ICGC), the International Human Epigenome Consortium (IHEC), the International Rare Diseases Research Consortium (IRDiRC) and the European Infrastructure for life-science information (ELIXIR), as well as in several EU-funded projects.

It is integrated with the Centre for Genomic Regulation (CRG), an international biomedical research institute of excellence, based in Barcelona, Spain, with more than 400 scientists from 44 countries. The CRG is composed by an interdisciplinary, motivated and creative scientific team which is supported both by a flexible and efficient administration and by high-end and innovative technologies.

In April 2021, the Centre for Genomic Regulation (CRG) received the renewal of the 'HR Excellence in Research' logo from the European Commission. This is a recognition of the Institute's commitment to developing an HR Strategy for Researchers, designed to bring the practices and procedures in line with the principles of the European Charter for Researchers and the Code of Conduct for the Recruitment of Researchers (Charter and Code).

The role

The Structural Genomics Group headed by Marc A. Marti-Renom and hosted at the CNAG and Gene Regulation, Stem Cells and Cancer programs of the CRG is seeking a Specialised Technician to work in the field of structural genomics.

Currently, we are seeking experts to join our lab as part of the CEGS (NIH/NHGRI) journey to image, analyze, and model the human genome at super-resolution. This project is shared with The Wu lab (Harvard Medical School), the Neretti Lab (Brown U.) and the Aiden Lab (Baylor). Individuals with extensive experience in microscopy as well as a penchant for innovating and applying tools at all levels of imaging are encouraged to apply.

Please, visit our web site at http://marciuslab.org to see our work and all publications from the group.

About the team

Our group at the CNAG-CRG develops and uses experimental and computational approaches for characterizing the molecular regulation of cells by studying the structure of macromolecules and their complexes. In particular, we focus on regulatory molecules such as RNA and chromatin.

Our group is very interdisciplinary (the team has been composed by biologists, biochemists, physicists, architects, mathematicians, statisticians, pharmacists, molecular biologists, and geneticists), young, international and dynamic. We are committed to make the stay of our people as fun as possible while enjoying science.

Whom would we like to hire?

• You hold a PhD in molecular biology, genetics, physics, mathematics, bioinformatics, computer science or related fields

• You have experience image acquisition and analysis using wide-field and super-resolution approaches

• You are fluent in English

• Experience with the VXL VUTARA microscope or similar will be a plus

The Offer
